After the widescreen debacle and the general audience barely touching said mode, this release does away with the widescreen cropped option, only allowing the choice to view the shorts in their original fullscreen format. Fans breathed a sigh of relief, although such a feat was short lived as this was the penultimate volume of the series.
This time around, eighteen shorts were included, the most out of the sets in the Super Stars series. Indeed, many of them starred the title character, Porky, with twelve of them being included from around the transition of the Looney Tunes series to color in 1944 to his final official short in 1965. Strangely though, it subtly appears that this set suffered from development issues.
Some might notice on the back cover that there are different shorts presented in the images than what is actually included. The two that stand out include "Daffy Doodles" and "Nothing but the Tooth", both of which aren't even in the set at all. Additionally, despite being pointed out as 18 shorts newly restored for the first time, there are three shorts that contradict this: "One Meat Brawl" is its unrestored 1995 dubbed version, and two shorts are actually Golden Collection double dips - "Wagon Heels" and "Boobs in the Woods". Although no such official response for why this was the case has ever been made, it's highly assumed that the earlier two shorts were intended to replace the latter two double dipped shorts, but they were unable to be restored in time, and the latter two took their places. It is also likely "One Meat Brawl" was also intended for restoration but wasn't completed on time. It is also worth noting that the two Bunny and Claude shorts at the end of the set were included by Warner Home Video as "filler," according to Jerry Beck in a Stu's Show podcast.
For the most part, this set aims to complete a few stopgaps in Porky's color filmography, complete with a few other miscellany from Robert McKimson and Friz Freleng. Even more surprising is that Ant Pasted is presented as its 1998 dubbed version ala the earlier Golden Collection volumes. These signs of production issues ended up being a foreshadowing of the series' bitter end.
"One Meat Brawl" would eventually see a restoration in light when it became part of the 2020 restoration project for HBO Max and eventually released on the second volume of the Collector's Choice series. Additionally, some at the time did question why "Riff Raffy Daffy" looks a bit poor compared to the rest of the restorations; the third volume of Collector's Choice answers this question as the aforementioned short had its original negative lost, and thus only Cinecolor prints could be used instead of its original Technicolor transfer. For this set, it was done in two-film Cinecolor, while it would later be done in HD with three-film Super Cinecolor to a slightly better result in Collector's Choice.

It might be somewhat ideal to get this set for collection's sake. It may contain a good amount of shorts available in their best state, but contain significant amounts of double dips and/or inferior versions of the shorts. If majority of the set contains unrestored versions of the shorts, they will likely to be subject to being upgraded in future sets. You may get a better value getting a higher rated set.
