The Golden Age of Looney Tunes: Volume 2 Rotate cover
Released in the middle of 1992, this next volume of The Golden Age of Looney Tunes provides another set of 70 cartoons. Unlike the previous volume, it and later volumes are not released on VHS. Each side of the discs represents a specific theme that includes 7 shorts each:

  • Side 1 (Disc 1) is yet again the 1930s musical Merrie Melodies showcase.
  • Side 2 (Disc 1) releases several early Bugs cartoons, including those featuring the Bugs prototype. Due to being part of the Sunset package that MGA/UA didn't have access to, "Porky's Hare Hunt" is notably missing.
  • Side 3 to 6 (Discs 2 & 3) once again includes a selection of shorts that targets a specific director. Side 3 is Frank Tashlin, side 4 is Chuck Jones, side 5 is Bob Clampett, and side 6 is Robert McKimson and Arthur Davis.
  • Side 7 (Disc 4) features shorts that satirize fairy tales and fables.
  • Side 8 (Disc 4) dedicates a collection of some of the best-received Daffy shorts.
  • Side 9 (Disc 5) features cartoons that showcase the more "supporting" characters, despite most of them featuring the more central main characters.
  • Side 10 (Disc 5) features cartoons focused on bedtime.

Collector's Recommendation Score

What's this? This is a rating of how recommended it is to obtain the set, rated from a scale of 0 to 10. This is automatically done and is calculated from three criteria by default: how many shorts are new to the format (20%), how many shorts is an upgrade from previous releases (30%), and how many shorts don't have an upgrade in future releases (50%). The higher the score, the more recommended the set is.

Each short in itself contributes an equal amount, and miscellaneous and post-Golden Age shorts are also included. Thus, even if all Golden Age shorts are upgraded in later sets, shorts in other categories may still prevent the set from scoring a 0.

For compilation sets, only the amount of shorts without a better version on later sets are scored for up to 10 points, as they tend to be repackages of previously released sets.

Any set that scores 0 on new-to-format or upgrade tests are deemed as double dip-only sets and instantly fails with a 0. Sets that also scores 0 on the "don't have an upgrade" test are also deemed as obsolete, usurped sets and instantly fails with a 0. As more sets get released, the score may be subject to change.

This is not an exhaustive rating on the set itself in terms of quality, but rather a marker on how worthwhile it is the obtain the set for a complete collection in the most cost-efficient way. Thus, sets with a higher score are a much better value for your cash than lower rated ones; sets rated with a 0 are generally a waste of cash.
This set has achieved a Collector's Recommendation Score of 4.571 out of 10, based on the sum of the score from the following categories:
  • New-to-format score (up to 2 points): 1.63
  • Upgrade score (up to 3 points): 2.44
  • Doesn't have an better version score (up to 5 points): 0.5

It might not be ideal to get this set for collection's sake. It contains significant amounts of double dips and/or inferior versions of the shorts and have likely been usurped by better volumes and releases. If this set is old, most of the shorts might have been updated to better versions. You will likely get a better value getting a higher rated set.
