Bugs Bunny Classics: Special Collector's Edition Rotate cover
This set was originally released as two different VHS sets under the name of Starring Bugs Bunny! and the titular name, which was later given a LaserDisc release that combines the two VHSes into a single LaserDisc with two sides. Side 1 of the LaserDisc includes shorts primarily from the VHS of the same name, while Side 2 contains a portion of the shorts from Starring Bugs Bunny!. Overall, they contain a selection of Bugs Bunny shorts, of which only "A Feather in His Hare" has yet to be restored onto home media.

The LaserDisc release has minor differences from the VHS releases. The VHS release of Starring Bugs Bunny! included "Hare Conditioned" as one of its cartoons, which was replaced with "Hair-Raising Hare" on the LaserDisc release. Additionally, "Hair-Raising Hare" was shifted over to side 1 of the LaserDisc, which was intended to represent the VHS of the same name which had all of the shorts on that side except for "Hair-Raising Hare". For some reason, side 2 ends with a SMPTE color bars test.

Collector's Recommendation Score

What's this? This is a rating of how recommended it is to obtain the set, rated from a scale of 0 to 10. This is automatically done and is calculated from three criteria by default: how many shorts are new to the format (20%), how many shorts is an upgrade from previous releases (30%), and how many shorts don't have an upgrade in future releases (50%). The higher the score, the more recommended the set is.

Each short in itself contributes an equal amount, and miscellaneous and post-Golden Age shorts are also included. Thus, even if all Golden Age shorts are upgraded in later sets, shorts in other categories may still prevent the set from scoring a 0.

For compilation sets, only the amount of shorts without a better version on later sets are scored for up to 10 points, as they tend to be repackages of previously released sets.

Any set that scores 0 on new-to-format or upgrade tests are deemed as double dip-only sets and instantly fails with a 0. Sets that also scores 0 on the "don't have an upgrade" test are also deemed as obsolete, usurped sets and instantly fails with a 0. As more sets get released, the score may be subject to change.

This is not an exhaustive rating on the set itself in terms of quality, but rather a marker on how worthwhile it is the obtain the set for a complete collection in the most cost-efficient way. Thus, sets with a higher score are a much better value for your cash than lower rated ones; sets rated with a 0 are generally a waste of cash.
This set has achieved a Collector's Recommendation Score of 5.357 out of 10, based on the sum of the score from the following categories:
  • New-to-format score (up to 2 points): 2
  • Upgrade score (up to 3 points): 3
  • Doesn't have an better version score (up to 5 points): 0.36

It might not be ideal to get this set for collection's sake. It contains significant amounts of double dips and/or inferior versions of the shorts and have likely been usurped by better volumes and releases. If this set is old, most of the shorts might have been updated to better versions. You will likely get a better value getting a higher rated set.
